Phidiana indica is often seen placed in the genus Caloria. There is still disagreement over the actual breakdown of some of these genera and families among the experts in the field. I have no reason to choose sides, but have been using Phidiana for some time for convenience. I don't particularly want to keep changing my lists while the arguments rage, so will probably keep it like this until a broader consensus is reached or I am convinced to do otherwise. I occasionally found these in a variety of habitats, including Makua, Pupukea, Ewa, and Iriquois Channel on Oahu and Puako on Hawaii, but they were most common in the Magic Island channel. There we saw 30 specimens in 57 hours of sampling. Phidiana sp. h185a might be the same species, but it seems just enough different in coloration that we are figuring it separately.
