Calappa torulosa Galil, 1997
50mm

Calappa torulosa is a common box crab with a lumpy carapace and quite a bit of color variation. All seem to have orange yellow legs, usually with darker maroon spots. It is usually smaller than either Calappa calappa or Calappa hepatica, with which it shares the same lagoon sand and algae patch habitat.

Mating pair.

This one is carrying a mass or orange eggs under the body and behind the claws.
