Stebbingdromia plumosa (Lewinsohn, 1984)

The rear legs of these crabs articulate upwards and are used to hold something, usually a living sponge colony, over its carapace. Ultimately the sponge grows to fit the shape of the crab quite well and serves as both camouflage and predator deterrence.

Occasionally other items are carried, such as this coat of Zoanthids.
