Odontozona sculpticaudata Holthuis, 1946
15mm

Odontozona sculpticaudata was found on a lagoon pinnacle near the east reef at Enewetak Atoll. The specimen was placed in the Bernice P. Bishop Museum in Honolulu and a separate photo of the individual below was figured in Goy (2015), who also examined the museum specimen. Another figure listed as O. sculpticaudata in the Goy paper has been reidentified as Odontozona arbur in Saito et al (2017). That figure resembles a few other shrimp we originally had identified as O. sculpticaudata but are now on the O. arbur page. Differences between the two similar species are fairly slight, mostly reported as the presence, absence or arrangement of small spines on various parts of the carapace, features not easily seen in the photos.
