Corythoichthys ocellatus Herald, 1953
Ocellated pipefish, 10.3cm

We're not sure about this one. It resembles Corythoichthys schultzi, but it also resembles C. ocellatus in Kuiter (2009). The specimen below was photographed by Stan Jazwinski on the red gorgonian rather deep on the seaward reef slope at Kwajalein Atoll.

This one was swimming over a gorgonian on a lagoon pinnacle in about 25m of water and we saw it for only a few seconds before it slipped between the branches and away. It appears to be the same species, although the resolution is not quite clear enough to be certain.
