Encheliophis homei (Richardson, 1846)
Silver pearlfish, 19cm

Encheliophis homei is a long, slender fish that lives inside sea cucumbers, emerging at night to forage. It enters the sea cucumber tail first through the anus and lives inside the body cavity. Most common host is the dark bluish black Stichopus chloronotus, as shown in the photo by Christina Sylvester immediately below. Some nights they seem quite common in Kwajalein reef quarries,where there are a large number of potential sea cucumber hosts.
