Ocypode ceratophthalmus is the common beach dwelling ghost crab.

Eye stalk.

Juvenile.

Crab hole.

Beach with burrows. Male ghost crabs make rather tall, neat mounds with sand excavated from their burrows to advertise their presence to females ready to mate. Females tend to scatter the excavated sand and do not make mounds.
