Amplexidiscus fenestrafer Dunn & Hamner, 1980
250mm

This plate anemone is found sporadically at Kwajalein on lagoon and seaward reefs. Often there are several in a cluster with the individuals measuring up to about 250mm in diameter.

The edges will sometimes curl up and over the disk, nearly closing it off. The photo below was taken in Bali, Indonesia.

In some areas we have been, the commensal shrimp Pliopontonia furtiva is sometimes found on Amplexidiscus fenestrafer. We have not seen these shrimp in the Marshalls, but below are examples from Bali (upper) and Anilao, Philippines (lower).
