On the fantail of the Palawan stands a large, spoked, nautical steering wheel. It is in an odd location. Gearing from the wheel going down to the rudder extends out behind the wheel (below and in front of the wheel, out of the picture), preventing anyone from standing behind the wheel and looking forward. Even if a person could look forward, the stack and vents block the view ahead. The only way to stand at the wheel is to look directly aft, so we presume this wheel must have been used to steer the ship in reverse.
