Goniopora sp. Although the polyps at the ends of long stalks are all soft, this is in fact a hard coral. There is a whitish skeleton at the base, seen through the mostly transparent tentacles. These are often colored darker brown, but the brown pigment is due to single-celled algae within the coral tissue. This colony was growing in a small cave, out of direct sunlight where the algae did not do well.
