Ferdauia ferdau (Forsskål, 1775)
Blue trevally, 70cm

Ferdauia ferdau is common in small schools around lagoon sand spits and lagoon sandy reefs around patches of Halimeda algae. Often they mix with Ferdauia orthogrammus, which often has similar vertical bars but also has a few scattered yellow spots on each side. The fish are reported to reach about 70cm, but the ones we see are generally much smaller.

The smaller fish in the photo below appears damaged.

Mixed with a couple of Ferdauia orthogrammus.
