Sponge, black wire, sp. 1

This unusual unidentified brownish sponge appeared to be networked by black wires, which I assume were spongin fibers supporting the sponge structure. That the fibers were visible might mean the sponge tissue itself was retreating, perhaps dying at the outer edges of the colony. This colony was under a rock on the seaward reef.
