Sponge, black, sp. 1

This unidentified black sponge grows exposed on rocks, usually on seaward reefs. We have seen in being eaten by the cowry Cypraea tigris, and the velutinid Coriocella nigra lays its wispy gray eggs over these sponge colonies.
