Pycnocaris chagoae Bruce, 1972
10mm

Pycnocaris chagoae was described and previously reported from a few sites in the Indian Ocean, so the Marshalls is a long extension of the range. The shrimp species is associated with holothurians and blends in on them quite well. The larger one below is carrying orange eggs. The shrimp were found and photographed by Christina Sylvester at Kwajalein Atoll, where they were in a reef quarry in about 1m of water on a sea cucumber next to a rock.
