A diver examines a giant clam (Tridacna gigas) on a lagoon pinnacle slope. The table coral to the right of the clam is growing out from the clam's shell. A few years after this photo, this giant clam and about a dozen others on this pinnacle were unfortunately discovered by hunters and fished out for food, leaving behind empty shells.
