Spirobranchus gardineri Pixell, 1913
30mm

This species of Spirobranchus is typcially intermediate in size between S. corniculatus and S. sp. 1 and appears to be found in several corals, including Millepora and at least three or four species of Scleractinean corals. These worms are most easily recognized by the operculum, which is on a fairly long stalk and is decorated with a pole terminating in branches with sharp points. The multipointed pole protrudes from the hole when the worm retracts.
