These appear to show masses of Serpulid tubes, some embedded in sponge.

These tubes look a bit different, so there could be multiple species involved.

Here the sponge the tubes in which the tubes were embedded is deteriorating. The second photo shows the network of fibers still present as the sponge recedes.
