Hipposcarus longiceps (Valenciennes, 1840)
Longnose parrotfish, 60cm

This large parrot is moderately common but not always easy to get close to. Terminal males have pale bluish green and pink color on their scales and fins while the initial phase males and females are nearly white.

It gets a little blotchy when asleep at night.

The juvenile has an orange band down each side.

This appears to be another young juvenile that has lost its orange stripe. It was photographed by Jay Lord on the lagoon side of Kwajalein Island in about 30m of water.
