Aurelia sp. 1
300mm

One of the larger jellies at Kwaj, Aurelia sp. 1 is sporadically found in the lagoon, where it sometimes forms large smacks. They often are seen close to the water's surface. This species appears to not have a powerful sting. Formerly considered Aurelia aurita, it turns out that species is one of several very similar species, and it is not clear which one our animals represent.
