Aniculus aniculus (Fabricius, 1787)

This large hermit crab lives in the intertidal, usually out near and in the groove and spur portion of the reef where the waves break. They usually occupy turban shells that are common in that zone.

The one below was photographed on the seaward intertidal reef of Enewetak Island, Enewetak Atoll.
