Asterropteryx semipunctata Rüppell, 1830
Starry goby, 6.5cm

We have seen just a few of these hiding in the algae in lagoon Halimeda patches. It resembles Asterropteryx atripes from Indonesia, but the Kwajalein specimens are lighter in color and A. atripes is supposed to have a conspicuous black pelvic fin. It also resembles published figures of A. ensifera, which differ in having a black edged anal fin.

The individual below was photographed by Jay Lord.
