Clarkcomanthus alternans (Carpenter, 1881)

These large and conspicuous crinoids are usually found exposed during the day on the seaward reef. In color they resemble some forms of Anneissia bennetti or Comaster schlegelii but tend to bunch up in these oval shapes and not spread out their arms as much. They lack the cirri used by other species to hold onto the bottom, but that is usually not easy to see unless the criniod is physically turned over.
