We suspect this is a variety of Calappa calappa, but having seen two crabs with this unusual pattern, we decided to keep it separate for now. These were found in Halimeda patches on a Kwajalein Atoll lagoon reef. We called this one the "batman crab" since the brown mark has a slight resemblance to the Batman symbol.
