Tubipora musica Linnaeus, 1758
Organ-pipe coral

The skeleton of Tubipora musica is composed of stacks of maroon tubes forming a hemispherical colony. Most colonies we see are maybe 250mm or less in diameter, but some can exceed a meter. These can be found somewhat sporadically on lagoon, pinnacle and seaward reefs. Some of the largest colonies we saw were in reefs between Bigej and Meck Islands and next to the reef pass south of Omelek Island.
