Petraliella magna (d'Orbigny, 1852)
50mm

This dark reddish brown to black species was commonly attached to Halimeda plants growing in sandy lagoon flats and slopes. If handled, it would stain fingers reddish brown. The bryozoan was preyed upon by the nudibranch Madrella ferruginosa, which also picked up the reddish brown color that it would release as a cloud if disturbed.
