Heterodactyla hemprichii Ehrenberg, 1834
20cm

Heteractis hemprichii is sporadically found on lagoon, pinnacle and seaward reefs throughout the atoll. They are rather small, maybe 15 to 20cm in diameter, and extend from holes in hard reef areas. When disturbed, they may retract into their holes. The species is quite variable in color.

These anemones will often host symbiotic shrimp such as Ancylocaris brevicarpalis.
