Ministrombus variabilis are relatively rare in the Marshalls, usually found on fine sandy lagoon slopes, primarily at night. We have found specimens from about 12 to 40m depth.
The proboscis and grazing mouth are visible below the eye on the left in the photo below.
Shells may or may not have a black blotch on the columella.
