Lambis crocata (Link, 1807)
Orange-mouth finger shell

Species of Lambis are known for their ability to hybridize. We have seen at least one hybrid between Lambis crocata and L. scorpius on the slope of a large midlagoon pinnacle reef. The shell exhibited characteristics of both of its parents.

The two sets of three shells below each show a L. crocata on top, followed by the hybrid and finally a L. scorpius.
