Glossodoris sp. cf cincta (Bergh, 1888)
30mm

We saw six individuals of this species, five of them on both day and night dives near Yandina, Russell Islands, on 13 and 14 August 1987, and the last on a night dive off Savo on 20 August the same year. The figured animal was one of the Yandina specimens. Matsuda & Gosliner (2018) recently split the widespread Glossodoris cincta into several species based both on DNA analysis and minor differences in color, primarily the pattern of colors on the margin. The margin of the Solomons specimen is darker blue at the very edge with a thin light blue submargin followed by a yellow green band between the marginal and body coloration, which does not really match any of the similar species, so specimens from the Solomons should be examined as well.
