Bornella sp. e312

This unidentified Bornella is similar in external appearance to B. sp. e299 and it probably is that species. However, it differs in that it seems to live exclusively in the surge channels on the atoll's seaward reef and it has a black gut similar to Bornella sp. e486. Originally, I had these and B. sp. e486 lumped together due to the habitat and gut similarities, but the two species differ consistently in external color and in the morphology of the rhinophoral processes.

The black alimentary canal is clearly visible in the two specimens below.

The light patch in the one just below may be a ripe reproductive system, but the black gut is still visible in front of and behind it.

Closeups of the rhinophore process shows a posterior papillae at least twice as tall as the rhinophore.
