Ceratosoma trilobatum (Gray, 1827)

Ceratosoma trilobatum is known from the Marshalls from only two specimens so far. One was found at the base of the lagoon slope at a depth of about 30 meters on 4 February 2008. The other was found on a nearby lagoon reef on sponge and algae-covered rock at a depth of about 10m on 24 November 2008. The first few photos show the first specimen found. A specimen we found in the Solomon Islands, if it is indeed the same species, looks a bit different.

The next few photos show the second specimen.
