Micromelo scriptus (Garrett, 1857)
25mm

Micromelo scriptus is known in the Marshalls from several specimens found in shallow water at Kwajalein Atoll. The figured individual was found by Christina Sylvester in a reef quarry in rubbly sand in 1 to 3m. It was previously figured as the Atlantic Micromelo undatus, but recent work by Feliciano et al (2021) shows that there are four similar species of Micromelo separated by both molecular and morphological characteristics. The more widely spaced white spots on the body and orange and green coloration of the margin separate this species from M. guamensis.
