Hawaii Fishes

This page presents fishes we have photographed in the Hawaiian Islands. All of our Hawaiian material was taken in the 1970s and 1980s using Nikonos film cameras. On most of our dives, we were using 1:1 or 1:2 extension tubes with framers, which were not at all conducive to fish photography. Consequently, our fish coverage is quite limited. Click the thumbnail to proceed to a thumbnail menu for members of that group. Unless otherwise noted, sizes given in the heading on each page are maximum sizes for the species listed in Fishbase, not necessarily the size of the figured specimen.
