Triaenodon obesus. A whitetip reef shark approaches the camera. Whitetips are among the mellowest of sharks, and are likely to be aggressive only in the presence of spearfishing and blood in the water. For the most part, we regard this particular species as simply large fish and dont ever worry that one might come in to bite. Sometimes they seem curious, though. Even though I know these sharks are not aggressive, while filming this segment I was starting to wonder when (or if) she would turn away.
