Ctenophore

Looking more like a small white sponge, this animal is a benthic ctenophore. Related to comb jellies, which live in the pelagic zone, they live on the bottom, attached to substrate as well as to other marine plants and animals such as seastars, soft corals, algae and gorgonians to name a few. They extend a long sticky branched tentacle for feeding. The base of this one was 20mm.
